Time to Take a Stand

The new year is now upon us and it is time to reassess who we are and where we want to go. We are still living with the remnants of 2020, as the COVID 19 pandemic still rages on in most parts of the world and many people are still dealing with the economic fallout left in its wake. However, regardless of the fallout from 2020, it is time for you to take a stand. What do I mean by this?

It is time to define who you are and what you stand for. You see, you may have had health issues from not being able to access adequate healthcare, your relationships may have been strained from quarantining at home, you may have been laid off or even lost your job and you may be facing financial hardship or strain.

What you need to realize is that you are a free and sovereign being and do not have to be a victim to outer circumstances. Now, you may say that you very little control over your life situation because you are in a lockdown, you don’t have the financial security that you thought you once had and your future may remain uncertain. However, do you know that there are people who thrived during the pandemic?

The ones who thrived were the ones who did not let external circumstances determine their destiny. They took control of their thoughts and directed then to ways they could help others who are worse off than they are. They took control of their feelings by deliberately finding and focusing on things they could be grateful for on a daily basis. They realized that their health is not determined by their doctors or the healthcare system and started altering their lifestyle habits around sleep, nutrition, movement and meditation. They realized where their relationships were lacking and took steps to address these issues or moved on when they had served their purpose. They realized that there is no job that can provide them with financial security and this depends on their imagination, creativity and ability to solve problems so they started researching the intersection of their skills, talents, abilities, passions and societal needs to create an online business.

Most importantly, they started to question everything that they had been told about who they are and the world they live in by not buying into everything the news media, social media, popular culture and marketing and advertising are telling them about who they are and the world they live in. These people realized they are free and sovereign beings regardless of how society, government, the economic system, the education system, the healthcare system and all external forces try to convince them otherwise.

They took a stand. So my question to you is, are you ready to take a stand for yourself and not let the outer world define you and leave you like a ship in a turbulent ocean without a rudder? If you are already on this path then I congratulate you. If you are not then I say that you must do this if you want to experience a different year than the one that has passed. In my last blog, I already discussed how you need to let go of anything that does not serve you by ‘burning your boats.’ You can access that article here.

In the next few weeks, I’ll be diving deeper into how you can take a stand for yourself and change the trajectory of life. In the meantime, journal on what you want to let go of in your life and where you want your life to go in 2021.
