I have studied the quality of resilience extensively and I have found 6 key components of resilience as follows.
Master Your Emotions – Emotions are one of the most challenging aspects of our lives. We tend to want to suppress our negative emotions and only feel our positive ones but, although this may protect you from momentary pain, it will lead to long-term suffering. You must learn how to release your suppressed emotions and how to feel all your emotions for greater joy and serenity.
Unpack Your Life Story – We all have a life story and not all of these are uplifting as many of us have faced trauma and tragedy in the past and may have lost people we care about. The problem arises when we identify with our stories so they become who we are. You must learn how to unpack your life story so you learn to see it from both sides and appreciate what it is meant to teach you and how it can point you in the direction of your higher calling.
Optimize Your Physiology – There is more to this than just nutrition and exercise, including breath work, creative visualization, the importance of your gut microbiome for immunity, movement, sleep and other many other key aspects, all of which must be mastered for greater health, vitality and longevity.
Connection and Oneness – One of the greatest problems with humanity is that of alienation. We all feel separated and isolated, even though we are all connected through technology. The truth is that separation is just an illusion as we are all made of the same essence which is interchangeable with energy, hence we are all one. Learning to embody the principle of oneness can release the feelings of alienation and loneliness, which so many people suffer with in this day and age.
Embracing the Unknown – Most people fear uncertainty even though curiosity is a key element of everyone’s childhood. We are often hindered by our parents and society in pursuing the objects of our curiosity because of irrational fear, which is a learned behaviour. You must learn to become comfortable with uncertainty, which has always been an integral part of our lives, not just now because of the pandemic. You also need to step outside of your comfort zone, where the only true growth and evolution occurs.
This is the systematic formula for cultivating resilience, the most important quality you can have in our ever evolving present and uncertain future.
