If what you think I’m talking about is waking up from your morning sleep then you need to read this. The truth is that the majority of human beings on the planet are asleep all of the time, even when they appear to be awake.
What do I mean by being asleep and the call to wake up? You see, we are all incarnated into physical form in this earthly realm for a reason yet few of us know what this is. We are not here for all the reasons we think we are here which may include getting a societal education, going to college or university, establising a career, getting a job, getting married, having children, buying a house, taking vacations, retiring and then spending the rest of our lives playing golf.
We were put here in a state of forgetfulness, which is why we identify with our physical bodies, our thoughts, emotions and sensations to the exclusion of what truly matters. And what is it that truly matters? It is our consciousness or being. We need to remember who we truly are and shed the image of who we think we are.
Not knowing who we truly are in our essence is, I believe, the source of individual problems such as anxiety, depression, addiction and even at the root of chronic disease. Not knowing who we truly are is also the cause of all of our global problems which are rooted in selfishness, greed and fear.
If we knew ourselves to be pure light energy and consciousbness, unlike the energy that permeates the entire universe, we would no longer cling so hopelessly to the things that do not matter such as our negative emotions and thoughts, our trauma and pain, grudges against anyone who we think has wronged us, material things and the pursuit of all the things that do not matter.
Not only would we pursue our higher reason for being, which is to discover our individual life’s meaning and mission as an expression of our higher purpose of awakening, but we would be able to easily provide, not only for our own physical and material needs, but those of others on the planet who do not have acccess to the amenities of life that we benefit from.
This would solve all of our global problems including starvation and unfair food distribution, lack of clean water, poverty, economic disparity, global regional conflict, human slavery and trafficing, environmental destruction, climate change and the others that are too numerous to mention.
All we have to do is to wake up. I know this is a tall order for most but you can simply begin by creating space in your life. Take even just 5 minutes to truly reflect on who you are beyond your roles, your failures, your successes, the labels you have given, your relationships and your material possessions.
You can do this by spending time in silent stillness, either through meditation, in nature, in your favourite place of worship or whatever resonates with you. If you do this for just 5 minutes a day for the next month, I can guarantee you one thing, You will begin to feel more gratitude, abundance, inner peace and overall well being.
If you do not believe me then do an experiment and try it for the next 4 weeks. Five minutes a day is not a big price to pay, however, the potential to completely transform your relationship to yourself and the world you live in is absolutely priceless.
Do not spend another day living your illusion of reality but wake up to your true nature and watch, not only your life, but the lives of those who you touch completely transform.
