Navigating Uncertainty

The truth is that I often feel uncertainty and confusion about the most important areas of my life including my relationships, my career, my financial status and my goals. I may look accomplished on the outside but there is so much more that I desire to be and to do before I die.

As a practicing physician, author, speaker and blogger one would think that I have it all together and am always on purpose. This could not be farther from the truth.

It often feels that the destination I seek is so far away and I often get frustrated and get off track. That is until I take a slow, deep breath and realize that it is not the destination that is important but the journey to get there.

You see it is on the journey that you learn, grow and evolve and the destination is just the validation of your journey. Once you reach your destination you need to set another goal and set off on another journey to continue your personal growth and development.

This is a continual process and you may not reach every destination that you set out to get to. However, if you sincerely set out to learn the skills and do the actions that you need to accomplish what you want, it is inevitable that you will grow irregardless of whether you reach your goal or not.

So reach high and set goals that seem just beyond your reach because it is not the destination that matters but the journey it takes you on. This is as much a reminder for me as it is for you.
